Iraq's Talabani says will not sign Aziz death order

Iraq's high tribunal passed a death sentence on Aziz, once the international face of saddam goverment,, in October over the persecution of Islamic parties in Iraq during Saddam's rule

The Vatican and Russia both called on Iraq not to carry out the death sentence on humanitarian grounds, noting his age and health problems. The Vatican said mercy would help the war-torn country make progress toward reconciliation, peace and justice. The U.S. government did not join the appeals to spare Aziz's life. Analysts said that was partly because the United States itself carries out the death penalty and also possibly because it did not consider his hands to be entirely clean.

Karzai says his office gets cash from Iran, US

KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan President Hamid Karzai said Monday that once or twice a year, Iran gives his office $700,000 to $975,000 for official presidential expenses and that Washington also provides "bags of money" because his office lacks funds.
Karzai's comments come a day after The New York Times reported that Iran was giving bags of cash to the president's chief of staff, Umar Daudzai, to buy his loyalty and promote Iranian interests in Afghanistan.
The Times quoted unnamed sources as saying the cash amounted to a slush fund that Karzai and Daudzai had used to pay Afghan lawmakers, tribal elders — and even Taliban commanders — to secure their loyalty.
Karzai told reporters Monday that he had instructed Daudzai, a former ambassador to Iran, to accept the money from Tehran.
"It is official and by my order," Karzai said.
He added that several nations have given money to his office — the first being the United Arab Emirates, which provided $1.5 million nine years ago when Afghanistan's interim government was formed.

Teacher interview ( check this out! )

well I interviewed a couple of teachers & I avearged out thier responses and it came down to, Education is not being taken as serioulsy as it should be in America. Are teachers are not being paid enough or appreciated enough, as a country we are retarted compared to china or Asia, Japan, etc. "Our Goverment has too much conrtol over education"(Mr.Matsler) some teachers have said that we have lost our role as leaders of education, and teachers have lost alot of respect due to thier low budget cuts. EDUCATION IS NOT BEING PUT NUMBER 1 , that is not entirely our teachers fault it is the goverments responsibility to enforce these rules and regs.

Do you agree w/Digital Education?

the movement to use computers more in education naturally includes many unrelated ideas, methods, and pedagogies since there are many uses for digital computers. For example, the fact that computers are naturally good at math leads to the question of the use of calculators in math education. The Internet's communication capabilities make it potentially useful for collaboration, and foreign language learning. The computer's ability to simulate physical systems makes it potentially useful in teaching science. More often, however, debate of digital education reform centers around more general applications of computers to education, such as electronic test-taking and online classes.
The idea of creating artificial intelligence led some computer scientists to believe that teachers could be replaced by computers, through something like an expert system however, attempts to accomplish this have predictably proved inflexible. The computer is now more understood to be a tool or assistant for the teacher and students.
Harnessing the richness of the Internet is another goal. In some cases classrooms have been moved entirely online, while in other instances the goal is more to learn how the Internet can be more than a classroom.

Education reform in America

Classical times

Plato believed that children would never learn unless they wanted to learn. In The Republic, he said, " . . compulsory learning never sticks in the mind." An important educational debate in the time of the Roman Empire arose after Christianity had achieved broad acceptance. The question concerned the educational value of pre-Christian classical thought: "Given that the body of knowledge of the pre-Christian Romans was heathen in origin, was it safe to teach it to Christian children?"[citation needed]

in my opinion  believe that education is key to success in any country period. Theirs  nothing more powerful than Brain Power.

Reflection on Writing prompt

Given what i seen i would have to say that i had no clue that our own military personel were involved in these acquisitions. beatings, torchers, etc.I think its crazy how they recorded and filmed everything they did. & how they sticked dogs on them while they were blindfolded. I was all for interregation perhaps but  to do those things to another human being is UN-patriot like.

Reflection on the Class Discussion

it was informational, i got alot out of it. I personally disagree w/ Law Enforcement having more power. i think they already have too much power & giving them the power to pull a person over just beacause they look like an immigrant is overboard. Im not decided on whether im for it or against it im still "if-y", people want to come to amercia beacuse they want to have more oppurtunities. In Mexico there are drug cartels high rates of murders, crimes etc. I would want to immigrate to another country as well. America requires a task for people that want to become a citizen, sometime that tak can take months or even years. it is a timed process.
Speeding the process up will probaly help.

Arizona's Immigration Law (Latest)

PHOENIX – Arizona legislators are setting aside Gov. Jan Brewer's suggestion that lawmakers consider changing parts of the e states immigration law.
Brewer on July 30 floated the idea of making "tweaks" to the law shortly after a federal judge blocked implementation of numerous provisions. Legislative aides said Tuesday the idea has been shelved, at least temporarily, mainly because of the state's pending appeal to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Legislative leaders voiced skepticism about Brewer's idea from the get-go but had aides review it before concluding that no immediate action should be taken.
"It's in the middle of the appeal process. We need to see how at least what the 9th Circuit says," said Greg Jernigan, general counsel to Senate Republicans.
Legislative aides said Brewer raised the possibility of considering changes to the immigration law during a brief special session held last week on an unrelated topic, but she ultimately didn't include it in her special session call.

Building a Mosuque Near Ground zero ( yay or nay )

I personally agree w/buliding a mosuque near ground zero...as amercians we all say we have natural riqhts and those rights are protected by the U.S constitution. (Freedom of Religion ) is an natural right in america and i think these muslims are being denied there rights. I dont understand how they say its sacred ground, its two blocks away and you cant see it from ground zero ( physically )
